A hail storm battered Motueka, NZ, this afternoon.

At a glance, it looks like snow, but in reality we are mid-summer and we should be enjoying hot sunny weather!

Take a look at the leaves on the hosta plant to the left of the gate - this morning it was a very healthy plant with layers of leaves. Other plants in the garden have been stripped and tomorrow once all the ice has melted I’m sure I will fine even more damage. 
 
Hail can cause devastating damage and no doubt there has been damage to local apple and kiwifruit orchards, vineyards and berry crops.
