If you can't beat them...

Pooley Bridge.

Having been out to the Lodge to ensure the heating was on and leave fresh milk for the incoming guests we decided to come the longer way home.

In Pooley Bridge they had finally opened the car park by the river, it had been closed since Storm Desmond.   How long is that?   Five years?   It is  no longer the place it used to be, gone are the riverside trees and the gentle slope down to the water.  At least they have removed the 1 - 1.5m wall of large boulders so that you can get down to the water.  I doubt parents will feel as happy letting children play in the water, it doesn't drop steeply in the water but looks as if it might.

Ao having been able to get to see the new bridge sideway I felt it should be my blip.  In my opinion not a patch on the beautiful old stone bridge but being realistic there was no way they would replace that.  The design was the most popular of three (I think) put to a vote of the locals.

Footnote.   Currently the map on Satellite view shows what the car park used to look like.
