Kneippen not Kneipen

Kneipe is a pub or restaurant & you make say to your mates "Let's go kneipen", pub crawling. But this wasn't such a day, there is a big difference a "p" can make. Kneippen is healthy.

This afternoon went to collect some lovely, small, old-fashioned, 2nd cut, hay bales, called 'Grummet' in Bavaria to show difference to 1st cut. It's normally much greener than the 1st cut but theoretically not as valuable as the 1st cut. Almost certainly the case with animals that need to produce energy or food eg cows produce milk. For our lazy horses, who seldom do more than an hour's walk a day, performance isn't paramount.

The stable where it is kept stands alone with no farmhouse at the edge of our parish capital, Sontheim. Angie had agreed a time with the young farmer. We were there well on time and waited in the lovely sun and the great views. Almost opposite is the Kneipp Tretanlage built by the parish and Garden club, I think with the financial support of Germany's biggest health insurers who also built/supported a nearby network of Nordic walking paths in the forest.

These Kneipp Tretanlage can be found all over this area as the "inventor" was a priest Sebastian Kneipp born just 4 km away in Stephansried & who became famous in Europe for his natural medical treatments, one of which is healing power of water. Off with the shoes & socks, roll up the trousers and then into the pool walking around slowly in almost John Cleese goose-step style to bring relief to tired legs & revitalise the system.

Angie forgot her mobile, didn't know where the farmer lived, and he hadn't turned up good 15 minutes after agreed time, we were forced to ask passers-by out on their Sunday walks. Luckily found one who contacted the farmer, and he was soon there apologising. He had simply forgotten. Bales quickly loaded.

In the morning, Luna was allowed to do her first horse ride since her operation. After waiting patiently for them to be saddled, off they set. However, she didn't know that I would get a call at some point and drive out to pick her up as she needs time to get back her strength.

Back home sits in front of the terrace door wailing away until she sees them reappear. Can't let her out before, or she would take off  - she knows the route exactly.

Luna can be seen in the extras also showing off her waist belt.
