The Great Cone Stand Off, Aylesford

It's freezing cold and the flatest of flat grey today. If you sit still for a few minutes the damp cold seems to seep into your bones. Despite this we decided we needed to go for a walk, as spending too long inside really seems to make your brain go fuzzy and blurred. Luckily, we could still get a take away pint from our local pub so we thought it would be an utter shame not to partake of some amber liquid!
Today's shot was taken at The Friars car park and featured this "stand off" between these two sets of cones on opposite sides of a wide expanse of gravel. For some reason it reminded me of the EU negotiations - we are so alike but for a long time there was an enormous yawning gap between us and our European cousins. What has so annoyed me about it all has been the enormous amount of "willy waving", of who is the victor, of bending to wills  - a lot of it is so male and so much useless posturing. A deal has been done (thank God and at bloody last!) but we will still be worse off than if we had just stayed in the European Union and compromised. It was all so utterly exhausting, pointless, boring (which is a dangerous thing in itself, as apathy sets in), needlessly expensive and now even more bureaucratic than before. A quiet period of calm and a calling off of the hounds would be a wonderful thing. I hope it happens.
