Lake Lure Holiday ....

... Day 6.

We spent a fun and relaxing day today in and around the cities of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. Our favorite place to visit in Lake Lure is the Flowering Bridge.  And at this time of year there are still lots of butterflies around. We have seen hummingbirds on occasion here but they were all gone by now this time around.  As you can see by my collage everyone wore masks here at the Flowering Bridge … even the dog sculptures!

After having our picnic lunch we did our normal tourist trap shopping at Chimney Rock. We avoid going here on the weekends as it’s crazy busy.  But during the week it’s not too bad.

It’s been years since we have done the Lake Lure boating tour so this we decided to take one.  My extra shows some highlights of the tour.  The picture of the tiny house is of the first house built on the lake … and it’s NOT indicative of the homes being built today on the lake! The neat thing about that first house is it’s still owned by the original family!  We had a lovely tour of the lake … it was fun seeing all the houses from this perspective and the guide (not the woman in my collage) told us a lot of interesting facts.

We stopped at the grocery store before heading back to the condo for supper.  We try to eat out as little as possible whilst on vacation as this saves a lot of money.  After having supper at the condo we headed back out toward Lake Lure proper to do some water photographing and also to visit the Flowering Bridge at night.  It looks so different in the twilight hours.

Later in the evening we went down to the lake so that Richard could photograph the night stars … specifically the Milky Way.  He took some really great photos but I was so tired by this time I was little grumpy.  My apologies to him for my mood that night on the beach. ♥
