Esk railway bridges

We had a click and collect excuse to drive to Musselburgh this morning. We walked up the Esk which had clearly breached its banks after the recent heavy rain and snow melt. In spite of notices to the contrary prohibiting fishing on the sabbath we saw three anglers, thigh deep in their waders, hoping to reel and collect their next meal.

Despite heavy showers we dodged the worst of them to enjoy the loop back through Inveresk village, with a detour into the NTS garden at Inveresk Lodge.

English schools are due to reopen tomorrow but there is understandable anxiety from many who work in schools, denied family contact over the Christmas holiday, suddenly being immersed again in large numbers of students from multiple homes.
