Excellent schoolmasters

Yet another flawless day! Been out twice today, which is just as well as we're going to be locked down even more tightly from tonight. Only go out nearby for exercise and don't speak to anyone after 5pm. OK, I made up the last bit, but the rules are going to be tighter, in Scotland at least. I haven't heard the whole thing yet as I was out enjoying myself!

This morning the three of us went just up the road to the Fisherman's Wharf again to watch the seals, but there wasn't so much going on. Maybe we were a bit early. We then went into Dunstaffnage and walked down to the beach beside the Marine Laboratory. It's rather a shame that this was built so very close to the beach, but that's almost irrelevant now as what is practically a new town is going up not far away - many hundreds of houses are under construction; at least another 800, maybe more, to add to what was built not long ago. How about a school, maybe shops, possibly a roundabout to get all these new residents out on to the main road? Don't be daft - let's get another 3,000 people living there first and see how it pans out! Look out to sea and you have a 180 degree view of water, islands and snowy mountains; turn round and you have endless new, modern boxes all crowded together. On well, we'll go somewhere else for our walks.

After lunch I went out again on my own, parked the car at the entrance of Poppies Garden Centre, climbed the fence and set off across a large piece of land between Poppies and Fisherman's Wharf - look on the map. I've been meaning to go out there for years, out to the end where there's a small cliff overlooking the sea. Lots of boggy bits, lot of sheep, lovely views and nobody else - I enjoyed it and will go back when we're allowed to! My Blip today is from here; Connel Bridge and Ben Cruachan - again!

Quote of the Day:

John Lubbock – “Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers, the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters and teach some of us more than we can ever learn from books."
