The amaryllis buds are opening fast, especially in the warm light that streamed in today.

Thank you everyone for the deep concern about our horrible day in Washington, DC yesterday. Spent much of today again listening to the news. I want to drive down sometime soon to reconnect with the city I really like and used to live and work in (been in the Capitol and House and Senate buildings many times), to help balance the images from yesterday. The feeling that things are really wrong gets amplified over and over.

But it was a beautiful sunny day, and there were many voices speaking out intelligently and strongly. And there is no doubt that security will be tighter for the inauguration. 13 days.
