Sir Edmond Halley

After doing our shopping run and having lunch I thought I'd blip this stamp. It was issued in 1986 to celebrate the passing of Halley's comet that year. I vividly remember watching the live data stream of the British built Giotto spacecraft that esa sent to look at it, getting within 596 km of the comet. I remember the disappointment of the colour camera being taken off line and the probe being knocked off axis for by a spec of high speed dust...! Amazing to think what cooperation can achieve.
