In Awe

I arranged a full day's kayaking today in advance of the emotional aftermath of leaving middle son at university the day before.
I set off before sunrise and was treated to amazing light over Loch Earn as the first rays lit the remnants of the cold morning mist.
Loch Awe in Argyll has always been a bit of a conundrum for me. My husband's family originates from South of its southern shore and we've spent many happy days in the area. Whenever we approach from the North, the drive along its Eastern banks seems never-ending and full of scary encounters with logging lorries.
Today, however, we investigated its beauty from our kayaks, stopping for lunch on an island and enjoying good chat and the sun on our faces.
Highlight was two Sea Eagles above us chasing a gull. Alas, too late to get the big lens out of the hatch...
Six hours on the water, the splendour of Argyll, memories of previous visits, good company.
I felt refreshed and ready to take on another day.
