Canal frozen solid

That ice looks quite thick, from what I can see. You would be tempted to skate on it, but it's very dangerous. I used to love our skating pond in Helensburgh. It was a very large shallow pond, only ever about a foot to eighteen inches deep. Natural ice is lovely to skate on, that's where I learned.
   The extra shot is one I took last night in dying light.
