Thick hoar frost covered the vegetation beside the river and the large areas of grass which had not seen the sun.  (Extra)  Nearby the formal garden at Newbattle Abbey was covered in thick snow.  But things were not as it seemed.  The “snow” was actually large white mats with artificial snow sprayed on the shrubs and the lampposts and some of the trees etc were props which were being removed after filming had finished at the location.  I had noticed them stored beside the abbey two weeks ago .and discovered that they were there for the third part of “Princess Switch” being filmed for Netflix.  According to a photo in a news article the “stable” was part of a nativity scene  but with not having Netflix I don’t suppose I will ever see the film.to find out the plot. I wonder whether the recent falls of snow added or detracted from the filming and the number of trucks and marquees around would indicate a large crew who presumably were still able to work unlike many who live locally due to Covid restrictions.
