Anomalous expansion.

I checked the rain gauge - AGAIN. 0.4", including the Iceberg.
I suspect, in light of the following, I could give a more accurate reading - BUT - I can't be harassed.
:¬)
"When liquid water is cooled, it contracts like one would expect until a temperature of approximately 4 degrees Celsius is reached.  After that, it expands slightly until it reaches the freezing point; and then, when it freezes it, expands by approximately 9%."
OK - BUT - How much does it expand twixt 4˚C and  0˚C?

I was a bit chuffed to see how few bubbles were in and wondering if a very slow freeze, expelling air as it went was responsible?
