Today's big excitement: we were able to schedule an appointment to get the vaccine in a couple days! Not too long after we signed up, it was impossible to get through on the website as the possibility flickered through the community and things jammed up.

Temperatures topped out at 71 degrees this afternoon, and I took advantage of the lovely weather to do some more rose pruning and a little weeding around the bases of some trees. The David Austen rose, Othello, has the biggest thorns I've ever seen and it's a challenge to get in there and clean up that plant. It's not very friendly.

I'm making sauerkraut for the first time, and I'm not sure it's going well. There is a tight wad of shredded cabbage and carrot in a big glass jar, but it doesn't seem to be making much brine. Has anyone done this, successfully or not? It's been sitting for 3 days, but it's a long long way from being food.
