Life with Alice

Winter Picnic

It was a cold, sunny winter’s day and finally we went on a proper outing in the nature reserve - with a picnic! Yay!!

Because of the rain the other day, and then subzero temperatures, all the paths and small gravel roads were pure ice with a thin layer of new snow on top. But mum has these new boots with built-in spikes, and my paws have excellent traction, so we were well equipped for it.

Pretty soon, mum saw this high, flat rock out in a field and said “Alice, let’s go and check if we can have our picnic on top of that rock!” Which we did. Because we like having picnics on top of rocks.

It was a perfect rock, but very high so mum had to pull herself up by holding a pole that for some reason was there. She lifted me up, and then we had the most amazing picnic - hot carrot ginger soup and liver pâté sandwich!

We went on through the forest and we both remembered why we love winter so much! More snow and cold weather - welcome!
