Quod oculus meus videt

Goldcrest (regulus regulus)

I am embarrassed by the quality of the image, but it had to be the blip of the day as it is the first time I have ever seen a gold crest in the garden (or anywhere else other than an illustration in a book or on a webpage).  Regrettably my skill as a photographer was found lacking but you can just about make out the line of yellow feathers on its head that gives it it's name.

I sat around for much of the rest of the morning in the vain hope that I might be able to to see it visit again, but to no avail.
