But, then again . . . . .

I do like a good rant now and again and since, under normal circumstances, it would still be pantomime season, please feel free to call out, “Oh no you don’t!” Preferably in unison. The Blip is a view of the north side of these newly occupied houses; the first in this plot (or field as we used to call it). One would have thought that, in this day and age, builders would virtually fill all appropriate roof surfaces with solar panels. They don’t! Which is why there are gaps in their patterns and some houses have them facing north. In fact, on this site, they face towards all compass points which means that only about a quarter of them face in a really useful direction. In fact, since the designers(?) started with a blank canvas field, all houses could have been orientated so that their biggest roof space faced south. In fairness, not that I feel inclined to be fair in this instance, they have done better than Cala Homes who have nearly completed their field without supplying a single house out of their several hundred with solar panels (actually, it’s 79, but it seems so much more).

What I consider an even worse sin, is that there is not a single heat pump to be seen on either site. Any device using a mature technology, that gives out three times the energy that goes in, has to have something going for it.

To round off this argument, forty years ago, The Old Lady annoyed the estate agent who was trying to sell her a new house by insisting on only viewing when the sun was shining. She wanted to assess how much solar energy came in through the windows.
