After a bit of shopping at the large supermarket a few miles from home I took the opportunity to stop off at the nearby Shepherd Meadows nature area for my lockdown exercise, and did the circular walk along the River Blackwater up to the balancing pond in the Sandhurst Memorial Park, and back along the otherside of the river.

The balancing pond, which helps control water levels in the area, had its usual compliment of water birds, including a flock of gulls, canadian and egyptian geese, swans and the standard mallard ducks. On my way back to the car I also saw a heron flying overhead, but unfortunately it was too fast for a photo.

I rather liked this pair of canadian geese playing "follow the leader" with backlighting from the late afternoon sun.
