Mendlesham chair

It was bright so we headed out as heavy rain is forecast for later. It was a quagmire on the track through the woods as this is now part of the Sandstone Way, a newish mountain bike route down from the moor to the village. Once on the carriage drive it was still icy in places. We took the long loop down through the forestry track and back round. I was ready for my lunch when we got back as we’d been out 3 hours.

Last night we watched Antiques Road Show from Christchurch Park in Ipswich as my friend Jenny had told us she was going to be on it. She had the 1830s marble roman ornament her dad had bought for 3 Guineas many moons ago. They also had some Mendlesham chairs which were worth &300O plus. Our younger two children went to primary school there and #3 daughter’s friend’s Dad made them. Dennis and Carole had a pair made when they were a couple and lived there. Wish we’d got some- not so much for what the value now is, but because it would be a memory of the 18 years we lived there.
