A FROSTY SLIDE ON SILLY SATURDAY

Hello Lovely Blippers

When we saw Mr. and Mrs. HCB getting all kitted up to go out for a walk this morning, we quickly jumped into her bag.  Whilst they were getting their boots on, we heard them chatting;  Mrs. HCB said she would like to go over to her field, and we got quite excited.  Everyone else wanted to come too, but we said that as it was very frosty this morning, it might be best if just a couple of us went - of course, there were lots of disappointed faces, but as Hoggy hasn’t been out for a while, I decided that he should come with me.

It was a good job that the HCBs had their walking boots on because the field was very squelchy and boggy - which Mrs. HCB is used to, but I did hear Mr. HCB complain a bit - but perhaps he was feeling the effects of his vaccination yesterday.  However, Mrs. HCB was fine and went striding on because, of course, she knows where the boggy bits are!

It wasn’t long before they arrived at the old oak tree, part of which has fallen down, and once she knew that Hoggy and I were in the bag, she was happy to let us climb up and she took a few photographs.  However, and I say this with tongue in cheek - you know what she’s like - and before we knew it, she had grabbed us and put us on this beautiful yew tree, which was still quite frosty and we both slid around quite a bit before Mrs. HCB was satisfied we were in the right position.

Do you know how much yew tree needles stick in your bottom?  Probably not, but I can assure you, they jolly well hurt!  I think Admirer would have had a giggle if she had seen us but we weren’t giggling!  I had to watch Hoggy to make sure that he could climb up and didn’t get too punctured, but of course, he is used to spikes, so this was easy for him.

Having taken lots of shots, the HCBs continued their wander around the field, trying to miss the squelchy bits and just enjoyed the frost and the sunshine.  I noticed Mrs. HCB did insist that she take a selfie so before Mr. HCB had a chance to complain again, it was done, so I thought it might be good to show it underneath the shot of Hoggy and me.

(Just as an aside, the HCBs might be classed as an “older and vulnerable” couple, but they did pretty well this morning, tramping on muddy paths, through long frosty grass, just enjoying the fresh air and frost, so we were very proud of them - they are game old birds - but don’t tell them I said that, they might not let us go out with them next time!)

We hope you all have a great weekend - don’t forget, STAY in, STAY safe and STAY strong!

With love from

JH Ted and Hoggy xx
