2015-04-14 (Day 104) Polmont Prison

When you say you live in Polmont, you find that more Central Scotland residents have heard of the place than you might immediately expect. After all, it's a fairly small town on the outskirts of Falkirk, and many folk from Central Scotland would probably be hard-pressed to place Falkirk on the map.

But Polmont has two reasons that people have heard of the place. No, not that Burke and Hare met here whilst navvying on the Union Canal. These reasons are that there is a railway station on the main Glasgow to Edinburgh line, and that there is a prison.

This is not a picture of the station.

The prison is "Scotland's national holding facility for male young offenders aged between 16 - 21 years of age".

Amazingly the prison has its own web site and even four reviews on Google, where it has two 5* reviews, one 3* review and a ginel one-star review.
