Smardale

I'm very pleased so many of you liked Team IttH's snowy walk on Beacon Hill yesterday, I know we're super lucky to have such beauty on our doorstep.

A lovely frosty wander out at Smardale today, so nice to have the viaduct open and be able to wander from our end.
We barely saw a soul (apparently there is a problem with the boardwalk which connects the car park to the reserve), but in these odd times that seemed quite fitting.
Nature seems to be enjoying the lack of people too, we saw the red squirrels at a distance, buzzards soaring and high up on the limestone side of this special valley several deer looked down on us unperturbed.
As we crossed the viaduct there was just the hinted remains of an ice halo around the sun, hard to capture from the deep shadow, so relegated to extras.
