The Old Tramway Stables

A horse-drawn tramway was opened almost two hundred years ago to transport granite from Dartmoor to the docks in Plymouth. Wagons loaded with granite blocks were pulled by horses, along iron rails. This old building on Roborough Down was used as stables for the horses. Today, From here you could still see the snow laying on Dartmoor in the distance. Little snow is present at lower levels, but the roads and paths were slippery with the ice.
