The Domestication Process

It has been five years since the First Family of Redneck Kitties arrived in our back yard, launching us on this fun journey of taming kitties.

Today, we are happy to announce that the babies are doing great after their little surgery yesterday. Not only have they been spayed, but both of them have accepted being indoors for a few days so that we can give them pain medications while they heal. They have both decided that they love being petted and snuggled, and there is great hope on the horizon that these two will live longer than the average redneck kitty (the average age of feral cats is 5, before they are either killed by predators or become diseased and die).

My Beloved is busy building them a safe house so that they will have a place to escape from predators and to keep warm on cold nights. They will be welcome indoors as much as they like, and will have regular flea treatments now that they can be easily handled.

We will always have fond memories of the many kittens that passed through our yard. As I said yesterday, it is almost bitter sweet that these two will be the last.
