Stuff and Nonsense

Little Grebe #18

Lockdown 3.0   Day #24

A very wet morning, but by noon it had stopped raining so we were back at Spike Island after lunch again.  Another very mild day without wind, and after locating the resident kingfisher again(extra) at the lock we went in the opposite direction to normal to see if we could find the common sandpipers. Apparently, when the tide is low they can usually be seen feeding along the shoreline from the old promenade, and sure enough, that's where they were - 3 of them. However, by the time we found them the light was so poor that the shots I took were way too noisy. They can wait for another day :)
Instead today's blip comes from the Little Grebe - the small bird with the big voice. They can be found on the canal skulking about and diving on the far side under the trees - we have at least 3 pairs. I like watching them dive and then try to predict where they will surface again. I am so easily amused!!!
