House finch, house sparrow, or ???

I'm just guessing, but I think this little bird, foraging on the ground below my bird feeders, is a house finch...probably an adult male. These are common birds in Ohio that often visit my bird buffet. Trying to identify it, I searched two field guides (Sibley and Peterson) plus an online source, but I confess that I'm still not sure. If any of you are birds experts, I would love to have an accurate ID of my visitor.

On the other hand, the identity of today's extra picture is no mystery. They are also common visitors to the bird buffet. I know some people don't like them, but I enjoy watching their entertaining antics, and I can easily identify this critter as a squirrel.
