Mother of pearl butterfly

A lovely handcrafted hanging ornament bought at a local craft fair a few years ago which now graces one of my windows. Today the winter sunshine, streaming in from behind, highlighted the iridescent material. I selected a viewpoint that showed a background of Leylandii trees to complement the ornament's colours. The reflected image in the glass gives a 3D effect. Mother of Pearl is a layer that makes up the lining of many mollusks including pearl oysters. Folklore has it that it has a calming effect and gives you clearer thoughts. I certainly feel uplifted just looking at it today.
