Bandits at one o'clock

I watched several buzzards flying quite close together up the valley earlier today. This one was alone except for its escort of two large crows.

I took a few pictures of them as they approached and I have a good close-up of the buzzard as it flew inches above the ash tree at the bottom of the garden before flying out of my sight.

The crows did dive bomb it and came into contact with the buzzard a couple of times. The old phrase, 'Bandits at one o'clock', resonated in m y head from my childhood watching black and white second world war films.

I think the buzzard carried on up the valley to another woodland. The bombing by other birds that they endure seems to be par for the course, reminding the buzzards not to hunt near here, especially with nest building in the tree tops going on for the next brood.
