Quod oculus meus videt

Bratch Locks, Wombourne

Two site visits today, both to factories with multiple positive cases amongst the workforce.  In both cases on site transmission was suspected so my job was to review their procedures and (hopefully) identify the way the virus had been passed from person to person.

We are becoming increasingly convinced that the latest variant of the virus is being passed between people in settings where the current guidance to business is being followed. In our opinion for workplaces where staff are together for up to 8 hours at a time, 2 metre separation is no longer sufficient to prevent transmission.  We are now recommending greater distance between staff, particularly between desks in offices or workstations in factories and workshops, the wearing of face masks  and importantly more ventilation in the workspace.

On the way to the second visit I just had time to pop into Bratch Locks on the Staffordshire and Worcester Canal.  I could just imagine this scene being very similar to that of a hundred years ago and more so decided to give it the sepia treatment.
