Lost at sea

It’s another day of sunshine and showers - or downpours as is the case this afternoon - by which time we are, thankfully, home and dry.

I decide a visit to the beach is needed - the sea’s been missing from my journal for a while. We head for Rhos on Sea, a little harbour at the west end of the three mile stretch of bay. It’s a pretty little place, bobbing with little fishing boats at high tide.  For now, there’s broken sunshine promised from the sky,  but across the three mile curve, clouds cast heavy shadows, and the threat of rain is never far away.

Pulled up along the beach is the larger Orki, held firm and safe from winter storms. Fishermen, of course, know and respect the sea, but right now danger must be very much in mind. Less than a week ago, three local men were lost at sea. Despite a desperate search, no trace of the vessel Nicola Faith has been found, and Conwy, just around the coast, is mourning.
