Cold Air, Warm Light

The marsh air felt cold and heavy in the shade of the trees and accumulated snow had flattened some of the grassy mounds into a pyramid. I was glad to be standing in the sun. Not for long, have to keep moving.

I liked the warmth in the foreground in this image playing off cooler tones beyond and tried to emphasize that with a bit of split toning in the highlights. Can you still call it split toning if you only tone the highlights? The background is also a little soft, helping to bring out the grasses.

The snow is getting quite deep now off the road, making it harder to get about.
