Self Portrait as a Ghost of Sorts

Lit from within is the sole secure way
to traverse dark matter. Some life forms —
certain mushrooms, snails, jellyfish, worms —
glow bioluminescent, and people as well; we
emit infrared light from our most lucent selves.
Our tragedy is we can’t see it.

from The Ghost Light, by Robin Morgan

I got a little bit silly with Photo Booth and ended up with this. The poem came after.

The first time I ever used photo booth was many years ago when my daughter was small. She had just gone to bed and I was messing around with a new mac I had gotten from school. I stumbled across the photo booth app and my wife and I started messing around with all the distorted lenses. We could barely control ourselves it was so funny, and trying to stay quiet was almost impossible. Now that sort of thing is rather old hat, what with Snapchat and all, but it's still fun to fool around with sometimes.
