Got my Great Aunt's old sewing machine out today. It's an Elna Lotus from (I think) the late 1960s, so its electrickery will need a bit of a service before I dare use it. It's in excellent condition though.

I'm determined to get over my fear of using sewing machines which I developed during Fashion Textiles lessons at school. It was a major crime if you broke one of the needles... it was as if you'd smashed a Fabergé egg or something! When Mrs Cooper told us the needles were fiendishly expensive I think I took her words a little too literally ;-)
