Sgwarnog: In the Field

Gushing

When is a dry stone wall not a dry stone wall? When it’s very, very wet.

This wall is in part a retaining wall, with the field behind it being a couple of feet higher than the path. When the ground gets as saturated as it is at the moment, and we have another day of rain that can’t soak in anywhere, the water just spouts out of the ground and through the wall. I’ve noticed it weeping before, but never gushing like this.

Miserable out today so I didn’t go far.

For the wall in context, see this blip from a couple of weeks ago.
