My grandmother, a quiet unassuming woman, would occasional surprise us. Adding pineapple to her chili was one of those surprises. It always tasted great to me but my parents never added it as an ingredient. Purists.

Then I grew up and got married and we started to have kids. It was one of the dishes I could make, so I would make chili. Then one day I added the pineapple and the kids loved It. The rest was history.

When we had it around, we would add it.
Today, we had it around, so in it went. It still reminds me of her.
