A Tuesday in Orkney

Our awareness came when Harry came in through the bathroom window last night, head covered in snow.  After a light snack he retired to his favourite Shetland blanket in his preferred winter hideout – the airing cupboard.  He’s still in there and has turned his phone off.

On emerging we found the house surrounded by hare’s tracks; how they survive is beyond our ken.  However every Spring we look forward to seeing them in the garden.

We have been for a walk to see whit like the road is up to the village but it’s no go – the brae is very icy.  This means CMC has had to cancel her visit to Hoy.    We met Jimmy on his quad bike going to check his sheep, snow whirling round him, all this at eighty six
.
A pot of tattie soup is on the stove and our houseguest  - Emily Jane McLeod – is busy working on her doctorate.
