Day 3 of the Challenge - B - Blisland & Boscas

For day 3 of the alphabet challenge, we decided to fit in 2 'B's.

We started off in Blisland. The village of Blisland is 5 miles east of Bodmin. It is a small village with a Norman church, Real Ale Pub, Post Office & Village Green. We stopped off at the Blisland Inn for some lunch before heading off to try and find Delford Bridge to re-create a picture from Jules' younger days.

From here we headed north to Boscastle on the coast. As we headed down the steep valley to Boscastle Harbour, we could see why it flooded so quickly & easily in 2004. The village has had a lot of regeneration following the floods, which saw buildings, businesses and family homes washed away. Astonishingly no one was killed. The village makes a point of hi-lighting this distaster and showing how they have pieced their lives back together.

We wandered through the village and followed the river to the sea. Here we saw the harbour wall which had been re-built by the National Trust & the blowhole which can only be seen at low tide. After taking the obiligtory picture, we headed back into the main village to take advantage of one of the many tea shops. The National Trust cafe provided a lovely cream tea and relaxation before the long drive home.

As we can only post 1 picture for the day, we have created a seperate album of our adventures on Facebook should anyone be interested...
