Chinese New Year

Today we had a family outing to yum cha in the Ashfield League's Club for Valentines Day. Ashfield has a large Chinese population and sells apples with a Chinese symbol for Chinese or Lunar New Year. In the photo it looks like it's been painted on in gold due to my OTT editing (hey, it's Chinese New Year) but in fact it's made by sticking on a stencil during the ripening.

I asked a staff member in the restaurant what the symbol means and she said it meant 'lucky' for the New Year.

May all blippers have great good fortune for the coming year and beyond, and this means above all good health.
