Growing in a boat

We are at Smiths Lake, north of Newcastle, with the old uni mates. It is here that we truly bonded on a 5 day hydro biology excursion, decades ago. I look back on it and I can honestly say I didn't learn a thing, except how to have more fun.

Tomorrow we might take a walk to the old research station but for now we are in a very nice rented house which accommodates 12 people comfortably. We had dinner outside on the verandah and tiny flies were our constant companions, all over us and in the wine.

On a brief exploration this afternoon I came across this little yellow flower growing in a boat. Not much soil there so a real survivor.
