How many people does it take to put on a kimono?

A kimono demonstration, as part of our Japanese Cultural Day, proved to be very entertaining and enlightening. At one point there were three ladies helping to dress our lovely model and it still took over half an hour!

The sleeve length demotes a woman's marital status; married and older women wear short sleeve kimono whilst young, unmarried women wear long kimono sleeves! Kimono's are less and less popular these days, partly I suspect, because of how long it takes to put them on. They are however very, very beautiful, and like this one, they are hand embroidered. :))

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.
