I was at my first St John Ambulance local team support meeting this evening where I discovered that they set out to recruit 30,000 people nationwide but have actually recruited 70,000, that in Oxford all the vaccinations are being done by health professionals not volunteers (which will come as a relief to some of my friends!) and that the available volunteering slots - in looking after people while they are at the vaccination centres - are heavily oversubscribed.

Some people who did the training are desperate to start but my only motivation was to help where the NHS needs help and if I'm not needed I'm honestly not fussed.
