Natural polish

The wind had abated by this morning but the rain looked well settled in. Nevertheless, N and I ventured westwards on an errand which took us past Calgary Bay which looks beautiful, whatever the weather. Between the road and the beach is an enormous tree root which is all that remains of a very large conifer that was blown over and blocked the road several years ago. Judging by the size of it, the tree was probably over 100 years old at the time of its demise and now its remains are being polished by the elements, showing the beautiful patterns in the wood.
