PEACOCK SADDLE FEATHER

It's Tiny Tuesday and this isn't really tiny, but a macro shot of peacock saddle feathers. I think you can see the "tiny" details, especially in LARGE. By the way, the circular bluish fronds are called "eyes."

Many people mistakenly believe these to be tail feathers. On the contrary, these feathers are along the back and just extend beyond the backside of the cock bird. The next time you see a peacock flaring his "tail" feathers, take a good look at the base of the feathers...you will see clearly that they originate on the bird's shoulders and not on the tail. And YES....he does have tail feathers too....they are a dusky tan color.
