1,000 pieces

Spent the morning cleaning the living room. It doesn't happen often as it means moving piles of books and magazines and just general stuff from all over the floor. So after that I felt I could just sit and start a new jigsaw.

This afternoon we watched an excellent talk about archaeological work which took place at Pendragon Castle. The aim was to dig out, examine and date a lime kiln found there. Fascinating talk by an expert on lime kilns, David Johnson, as part of a series given by the Westmorland Dales Landscape Partnership. I had not realised that lime kilns were often temporary to provide the lime for a specific building project, as they decided was probably the case here, as the dating of the kiln tallied with the building of the castle - late 12th century.
