Scrubbing the veg

You sow the seeds. You plant marigolds at the end of the rows to keep the carrot fly off. You watch them grow. You dig 'em up. Can you eat them? Not till you've got them clean. Till then, they're durrty carrots.

I have spared you the Brussels Sprouts, Jerusalem artichokes and the neep, also in this session. [For non-Scots a neep is a swede, not a turnip. Something it's important to know when making haggis, neeps and tatties.]
