Fiskerton Fen

This morning Bri and I took a short drive to Fiskerton Fen to sort Blips out early in the day. It was somewhat gloomy and breezy but not too cold. There were a few drops of rain - no more than a sprinkling though.

We saw five goosanders but they were very camera shy and flew off whenever we were close enough to take a photo - there is a fleeing goosander in the extras. Also there is an unusual black egg-case type thing. If anyone who knows a bit about wildlife happens to glance at this Blip - would you mind checking it out to see if you can shed any light on what it may be from, please. It was on the river bank so may have been washed up there during the recent floods.

The main shot (Large is best!) has some geese relaxing on the bank. Fiskerton church is in the distance, and on the other side of the bank you can just see the Wheat Arch sculpture that I may have Blipped last year! The little dots on the river are Goosanders!

This afternoon we watched the first Rugby League game between N.Z Maori and other indigenous peoples. It was wonderfully hard-fought, with lots of skill involved and ended in a draw, which though rare in Rugby League was a very fair result.

Minstrel had a sleep on my lap after the match - I almost fell asleep too - his warm, soft presence is so relaxing! I have his flea drops in my pocket ready to strike though, so I will probably not be in his good books for a few days. Despite giving him treats after to apologise!
