When the Baltic freezes / Wenn die Ostsee gefriert

Today was another first - I’ve never walked on a frozen sea before.

I’m not entirely sure why it freezes here, when I can’t imagine such a picture on the chilly North Sea beaches of my native UK. I guess it may have something to do with it being not very salty, and maybe not tidal or particularly ’wavey’?

Either way, it was quite special to walk across the ice and then spend the afternoon playing on a warm, sunny beach.
