Firefighters

Today was our first one of practical training for the RFS.
We have another next Sunday and then a couple of practice sessions before our assessment.

After familiarising ourselves with the truck and various bits of equipment and how to roll a hose, we went down to the creek and practised pumping water out to spray around.
Apart from a couple of boo-boos such as mixing up the generator and the pump and trying to connect the hose to the outlet instead of the inlet we eventually got it all working!

We did cop some displeasure from a lady who had set up there for a picnic with her kids and didn’t like the RFS pulling rank and moving them on!
Only a year on from our devastating bushfires, some people must have short memories.

In our group of seven there were 5 aged over 60 and 4 women.....
