In Town

The weather has turned warmer and the ice covering the car, pictured yesterday, melted or fell away in the plus degrees of today. At the warmest part of the day the sun shone a little and there was that springtime signal of water dripping furiously as the snow on the roof melted.  If this was April it would be an optimistic sign and we'd be very happy. However, in February it is far too early and feels unnatural!.
We needed a walk and some shopping so we decided to go to town. It looked really slushy and Jan decided to abandon the idea of a walk. I left her at the second-hand charity shop and I did a quick 20 minute walk just to get the blood going!
This picture was taken during my walk. I'm at the end of a floating breakwater, protecting the northern sound, seen here, from the sea (behind me).  Since the sea is frozen the protection isn't needed just now.  In the distance you can see the bridge from the mainland (on the right) to the island (on the left).
