Ida

Dressed for staying at home.

Ida wearing her new brooch that I made out of scraps of gold and a chunk of amber that she gave me and a swallow pin for safety. Not my usual sort of work but Ida has definite ideas of what she wants and wears her vast collection of jewellery with aplomb.

The chair she is sitting on has controls that will lift her into a standing position if need be and set her on her feet. She bought it a couple of years ago for when she gets old. She's only 94 or 95 (can't quite remember) and isn't old enough to need it yet.

An inspirational woman, born at the tail end of the Arts and Crafts Movement and involved with arts and crafts all her life. The few samples of her works which she has left show how very skilled and diverse she was in her knowledge and make me think of what is lost in our high speed society.
